HYBRID HENS 

We sell a variety of different coloured hybrid chickens as point of lay hens that will lay various coloured eggs including very dark brown eggs from our Marans based hybrid hens and pure white eggs from our white hybrid hen.  These hens make ideal family pets for the back garden and are prolific egg layers.  Our hybrid hens are sold at point of lay (usually around 16-18 weeks) and they are fully vaccinated and have been run together making it easier to introduce to your flock or if you are starting out in chicken keeping.

These point of lay pullets (sold at approx 18 weeks old) should start to lay at around 18 - 21 weeks old and usually lay a plentiful supply of eggs for around 3 years.

Warrens, Gingernut Rangers or ISA Browns.  

These hybrid hens are known by several different names including Warrens, Gingernut Rangers and ISA Browns and are based on the Rhode Island Red. 

Columbines

These beautiful hens will lay delicious eggs with turquoise coloured shells.  They are hybrid hens based on the Cream Legbars. 

Coral

A pure white hybrid hen laying up to 355 beige eggs to 80 weeks.
A docile bird.

Light Sussex

An excellent sex linked utility strain of the very popular and attractive Light Sussex.  Very good eye catching domestic bird.

Silver/Amber

This is a Rhode Island, white coloured hybrid hen that lays brown eggs.  It is slightly heavier than the brown feathered hybrids. 

White Leghorns

Blacktail/Columbrian Blacktail

This Rhode Island Red based layer combines all the production and economic  benefits associated with a modern hybrid with the traditional good looks of the chestnut plumage.  These hens are hardy and docile.

Cuckoo Marans

This is a French Marans based hybrid hen, often known as a Speckeldy hen that will lay dark brown eggs.

Blue or Bluebell

A very attractive blue coloured hen that will lay large brown eggs.   These hens are superb as a domestic bird.

Pied or Sussex Reverse

These hens are large, farmyard type fowl that are black and white feathered and they lay brown eggs.  They have very thick plumage and a good body weight.

(The blue/green egg layers) Cream Legbar hens lay turquiose coloured eggs which will add something a bit different to your egg basket. We have pullets available, they are pretty girls and have a good temperament. The cockerels have striking looks and are available from chicks. This breed of chicken is auto-sexing so we can sex the chicks from day old.

Marans

Originally from the Marans region in France this breed of chicken lays a dark chocolate brown egg. Marans are a good, heavyweight, robust breed which are easy to keep. They are docile in nature and are content to be back garden hens. Hatched and reared in Surrey, we usually have some in stock, either chicks or hens at point of lay.

Light Sussex

Traditional farmyard hens originally from West Sussex, these chickens are hatched and reared by us in Surrey. They lay a light brown egg and make tame family pets. The striking contrast of the white body against the black feathers around the neck make this great looking chickens. Chicks, pullets and cockerels are usually available. 

Light sussex bantams also available.

PEKIN BANTAMS

Now in stock The Pekin Bantam was first known in the Western world in around 1860 when this small breed was taken from the Emperor's palace in peking by British soldiers at the time of the Opium War. A good example of a Pekin should have short, feathered legs and it will remind one of a ball of feathers. Pekin bantams make superb pets, they have a very calm nature and are really quite cuddly! They usually lay a good number of eggs and often go broody. Children will love to handle these chickens. We hatch and rear Pekin Bantams here in Surrey and have them available at point of lay or as chicks. Pekin Bantams come in a variety of colours and we stock the following:- Lavender Pekin Bantam, Millefleur Pekin Bantam, Cuckoo Pekin Bantam, Black Pekin Bantam, Buff Pekin Bantam.  Also, available is the frizzle peking bantam.

Frizzle

The Frizzle is a comical looking chicken with it's feathers growing in the wrong direction. We hatch and rear a bantam version of Frizzle here in Surrey who have a good temperament. They make excellent broody mothers and lay a good supply of small white eggs.
